VLADIVOSTOK, November 13, vladivostoktimes.ru The freight turnover of Vladivostok commercial seaport has increased by 36% for a period of ten months in comparison with the same period of the previous year and it is now 5103,1 thousand tons. Thus the annual plan of freight processing is fulfilled for 102%, as the public relations service, referring to production service data, reported to PrimaMedia. In October 2008 the freight turnover of the seaport reached 528,8 thousand tons. The reason for the increase is export, the volume of which was 2518,5 thousand tons for ten months; it exceeded the results of the previous year by 75%. The main components were metals and hardware - 1495,9 thousand tons, containers - 264,7 thousand tons (81612 TEU). In the import direction the seaport has worked up 1608,8 thousand tons of different freights for ten months; and it increased its results by 13% in the comparison with the previous year. The dominate freights in the structure of import are containers – 728,5 thousand tons (75041 TEU), cars and equipment– 452,3 thousand tons (211647 units), raw sugar in bulk -115,9 thousand tons. During the period from October to November 975,8 thousand tons of coasting freights were worked up. It is more by 7% than for the same period of time of the previous year. The main coasting freights were containers – 608,5 thousand tons (61895 TEU) and oil products in bulk – 274,5 thousand tons. In the general freight turnover of the seaport metals and hardware have 31%, and it is 1548,5 thousand tons; containers have 32%, or 1611,1 thousand tons (218548 TEU); general cargo has 19%, or 998,5 thousand tons. Also cars and equipment have 9% of the general freight turnover of the Vladivostok Commercial Seaport. Besides this, 12% of the general freight turnover of the seaport are occupied by bulk freight, and it is 617,6 thousand tons; including scrap metal in bulk – 249,4 thousand tons, raw sugar in bulk – 115,9 thousand tons, clinker in bulk – 15,6 thousand tons, grain – 31,5 thousand tons. Bulk-oil freight has 5% of the general freight turnover of the seaport, or 288,9 thousand tons. Timber cargo has 1% of the general freight turnover, it is 20,5 thousand tons. From the beginning of the year port has handled 60177 carriages and 2634 vessels.
