That is why "the revival of trade relations by ferry" (as the visit program says) will become one of the main subjects to discuss with a big Japanese delegation from Tottori which arrives in Primorye by a charter flight on August 5, as Zolotoy Rog reports. The first results showed that there is much work to be done to provide profitable work of the ferry, especially to provide cargo turnover. Between July and December 2009 the ferry made 52 voyages and transported 18256 passengers which is 18% more than predicted level. The majority of the passengers were the Koreans - 69%, the Japanese - 18%, and the Russians - 12%; other nationalities - 1%. Cargo transportation was not so successful. Korean part sent 241 tons of cargo, mostly seafood and equipment, from Donghe to Sakaiminato. Japanese part sent 344 tons of cargo (seafood, vegetables, fruits, car parts) to Korea. The Russian direction failed. The project coordinators planned to transport 1920 containers during the first half year but in fact they transported only 82 containers.
